During a “New Things to Do” April update Twitch preview, Bungie revealed the new things players will be able to do in Destiny starting April 12. Bungie’s community manager David “Deej” Dague walked players through the Reef as he talked with several members of Destiny’s live team. They talked about the increase in light level, from 320 to 335, a new mission, a new strike, and a Taken overhaul for the Prison of Elders.
Most of the new content is going to go through Variks the Loyal, who runs the Prison of Elders. The new update is going to add two new versions of the Prison of Elders. The first is a level 41 instance with a recommended light level of 260. This can drop loot up to light level 320 and brings finally brings matchmaking. It will also include the “sterling treasure” which Deej promised would be talked about in a later stream. The second one is a much tougher go with a level of 42 and a recommended light level of 320. This instance drops items up to level 335 and in both instance engrams can now be dropped and Vanguard rank can be increased and bounties completed.
Variks also now sells a scorecard for just 100 glimmer that will allow players to earn even more goodies by completing different criteria. The one shown in the stream needed the players to achieve a certain score in a single run for high level weapons and armor. The update also adds “The Blighted Chalice” strike that will have players battling Malock, a large Taken that wishes to follow in Oryx’s footsteps. The “Winter’s Run” strike will receive a Taken overhaul and a reworked boss fight. PlayStation players will also receive an all new quest line.
Destiny is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and the Xbox 360. The update is available for those with the Taken King expansion starting April 12.
