After revealing Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV last year at E3, veteran Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto said in an interview with Famitsu that they will not be making an appearance this year, instead planning to reveal more details at a later date. That isn’t to say that those eager to keep up with Square Enix won’t see them at the show, as the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn team will be holding a special Letter from the Producer LIVE show at E3. However Hashimoto went on to say that as for Final Fantasy XV, now may not be the best time to reveal information, as the game is very well deep into development. Hashimoto also commented that although there would be no information on Final Fantasy XV, that there would be information about “something”, what that something is remains to be seen.

Previously announced in 2006 as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, XV is a grand departure from the Final Fantasy formula, presenting fast paced, action game style gameplay driven by the same team responsible for Kingdom Hearts II, a unique setting taking inspiration from Rome and Tokyo, and the iconic visual appeal that the Final Fantasy series has been known for, with the pre-rendered cinematics being handled by the team that developed the full length feature film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

As for Kingdom Hearts 3, with a recent trailer for the 2.5 HD ReMIX having an, albeit small, teaser for Kingdom Hearts 3, it’s hard to say what we can expect in the way of news any time soon as Hashimoto went on to say that he thinks releasing new information will still take some time. Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 were both announced for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, with this being the first time the Kingdom Hearts franchise would be available on a Microsoft console. Release dates are still unknown.
