Assassin’s Creed Unity had a lot of issues at launch. From certain elements not working correctly to skin textures just plain disappearing, the next gen entry into the Assassin’s Creed mythos was met with less than positive reception as Ubisoft tried to get a breath on the issues and patch them out. Now that the dust has settled, Ubisoft CEO Yannis Mallat has issued a formal apology for the trouble, as well as announcing that the first DLC scheduled for the game, Dead Kings, will be made free for everyone.

For those Gold and Season Pass owners, Ubisoft is also giving away one free game of their choice between Far Cry 4, The Crew, Watch_Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Rayman Legends, or Just Dance 2015. For more information and to see if you qualify, be sure to check out the letter from Mallat here. It’s good to see that Ubisoft is committed to making good by their product, even given its launch problems. For the latest patch notes from Ubisoft, check out the Ubisoft forums here.
