The latest installment in Arc System Works’ long standing competitive fighting game Guilty Gear Xrd Sign (pronounced Ex-rd) is receiving an exclusive PlayStation 4 demo for PlayStation Plus subscribers, set to his the PlayStation Store tomorrow according to the PlayStation Blogcast podcast episode this week. This demo will allow players to revisit the franchise after its new system rebirth with characters Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske. Arguably one of the titles that defined the modern age of fighting games, Guilty Gear was originally released in 1998 for the PlayStation, and after a series of sequels and updates had suffered something of a decline in recent years with the Arc System Works’ spiritual successor Blaz Blue and Persona 4 Arena taking the foreground as the non-Capcom or SNK 2D fighters of choice.
With Xrd Sign, the Guilty Gear series comes back to the foreground, and with the demo players will be able to enjoy the Arcade Mode for both Sol and Ky, and experience the completely revamped graphic and technical engine that highlights as one of the prominent features of the fighter. While missing notable characters such as Jam, Baiken, Dizzy, Bridget, Kliff, and Anji, Sol, Ky, Millia, may, Chipp, Potemkin, Venom, Axl, I-No, Faust, Slayer, and more all make their return for Xrd Sign, and judging from the reception of the arcade version, its an experience to be had. Guilty Gear Xrd Sign comes to North America this December 16th, courtesy of Aksys Games. Check out the Tokyo Game Show 2014 trailer below.
