WonderCon 2014: Warner Bros. Showcases Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, Into the Storm
Saturday WonderCon attendees were treated to a special presentation of three of Warner Bros’ upcoming films: Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, and Into the Storm.
The main attraction was, of course, Legendary’s Godzilla reboot, which was presented by director Gareth Edwards. The crowded arena erupted in applause after the reveal of about 5 minutes of new footage from the film. The exclusive WonderCon footage (which is sure to leak online any moment now) showed a Tsunami hitting a city, a showdown between Godzilla a Kaiju, and much more. The clip seemed to confirm the presence of multiple monsters in the film, which has been hinted at in previous trailers.
Edwards assured the audience that the film develops the legendary beast’s character beyond just a destructive stomping machine, saying, “Godzilla tells you who he is.” Godzilla roars into theaters on May 16.

Bill Paxton was also on hand to represent Edge of Tomorrow, which has been described by some as “Groundhog Day with aliens”. The sci-fi action film stars Tom Cruise as a soldier who is trapped in an endless time loop, and must relive the same horrid day over and over. Edge of Tomorrow also stars Emily Blunt and Paxton, who said that the exoskeleton suits worn during filming were “torturous.” The film is slated for release on June 6, 2014.
Paxton also briefly discussed his recent role on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., offering up a sly “Hail Hydra” to the audience’s delight.

Into the Storm was represented by director Steven Quale and cast members Richard Armitage, Jeremy Sumpter, Max Deacon and Arlen Escarpia. In the found-footage film, a series of cyclones wreaks havoc on a small town. Think Twister on steroids. Look for Into the Storm in theaters on August 14, 2014.
