The demonic little doll, Chucky, has surely been at the core of many of our nightmares. Casting away any childhood dolls that we had around the house, the thought of them becoming possessed by the spirit of a serial killer, as Chucky was, was more than frightening enough to promote us to rid of our favorite Cabbage Patch Doll. Because of the horror that filled our brains, the Child’s Play movies may very well be considered to be among the Top 10 horror movies of all time. After being around since the 80’s and with the recent release of 2013’s Curse of Chucky to DVD and Blu-Ray, it was only fitting to celebrate today at the New York Comic Con as the 25th anniversary of Chucky has approached.

It is without a doubt that the little demonic doll was boastful and quite cocky, and to open up the ceremony, a message from the doll himself was played, and he was as presumptuous as ever: bragging about the multitude of murders he had committed throughout the movies, each played for the audience as a flashback and as a homage to the gore-filled rampages that Chucky is known for.

At Chucky’s celebratory panel sat the founder of Chucky, Don Mancini, along with Chucky stars Jennifer Tilly, Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Danielle Bisutti, and Alex Vincent. The crew talked about their experiences while working on set of the Chucky films: Alex Vincent (who played the little boy, Andy) reminisced about the awkwardness of having to say the word “bitch” while his mother watched on the sidelines while he auditioned for the part; Fiona Dourif spoke on how since her father played the role of Chucky, many of the other children would become frightened as she would whip out her Chucky doll; and Jennifer Tilly and Brad Dourif spoke on their natural chemistry together, where some of the lines included in the movies were actually improvisational, such as when Tilly, Chucky’s bride, says “Chucky, shouldn’t you wear a rubber?” and Dourif, voice of Chucky, responds with, “I’m all rubber.”

There was surely lots of fun to be had at the celebration of Chucky’s 25th anniversary at the New York Comic Con today, and us horror fans are avidly looking forward to, and hoping for, another installment in the Chucky franchise.
