ArenaNet is offering Guild Wars 2 players an all new way to get into the beta for the upcoming expansion, Heart of Thorns. Starting today, players will be able to gain beta access by looting rare portals from enemies in the Dry Top and Silverwastes areas, which when looted will grant access to the closed PvE beta event. Those hoping to grab one such portal on the market will be out of luck, as the portals are untradable and unique to the user.
“Don’t worry if your portal gets misplaced in a sandstorm or devoured by a passive ravager;” the developer writes. “Beta access will be flagged upon looting the item, and it’s not required to claim participation.” Meaning that once you loot the item, you’re in. It doesn’t matter if you still have it when beta time rolls around. The Guild Wars 2 expansion Heart of Thorns is due out later this year, adding the new Heart of Maguuma area with new outposts, adventures, boss battles, group content, and more, including a new Mastery system, the new Revenant profession, new specializations which are a rework of the trait line mechanic, and more. Guild Wars 2 is available now on PC.
