Warning: Season 4 and 5 spoilers ahead!

According to The Mary Sue, a series of tweets not officially affiliated with HBO or the Game of Thrones production team may have revealed an interesting new casting for the already eagerly awaited 5th season of the fantasy epic Game of Thrones.

Previously revealed casting from official sources indicate that Dorne itself, the southern Westeros region, will have significant screen time. Oberyn Martell’s brother and many bastard daughters are sure to grieve and plot over the death of their beloved Red Viper.

But the potential new casting has to do with a character that we already know.

SPOILERIFIC DISCUSSION IMMINENT!

So, in the books, when Cersei was a child, before she became Robert Baratheon’s queen, she encountered a soothsayer that basically told her she would be replaced by a younger and more beautiful girl in her seat of power. Nothing like a prophesy of your downfall to fuel your already unhealthy paranoia. We’ve already seen in the show how Cersei is wary of Lady (excuse me, “Queen”) Margaery Tyrell, and she is now set to marry Joffrey’s younger brother, the boy Tommen, ensuring her ascension to Queen.

The words of this prophesy will echo strongly in Cersei’s head when the events of Season 5 come around. I won’t spoil the end of Season 4, but come season 5, Cersei will find herself with more power, influence, and worry than ever before.

As for the tweets themselves, they were quickly removed. The possibility that the script itself for the 5th season was read by someone outside of the crew and perspective cast members doesn’t do anyone any favors. However, there’s still surprises to be had about how exactly the show will present a young Cersei. Up until this point the show has never had flashbacks or dreams, except for the visions that Bran Stark has had.

In the meantime, we’ll continue to mourn the gruesome death of Oberyn Martell and wait for the thrilling concluding episodes of season 4.
