Like a 80s pop reunion concert, harsh silhouettes, rolling speakers, grungy stage and all.
Peter Quill, aka Star Lord has his distinctive mask and the alien outlines of Gamora, Drax and Rocket Raccoon are easily recognized. To the surprise of some, baby Groot is standing atop Drax’s shoulder kind of like how we’ve seen Ant-Man on Hawkeye’s shoulder. We know Drax gets easily annoyed with Groot, so it’s hard to say if this is just a Marvel in joke or if feelings have softened between them.
Marvel has also painted Volume 2 as being specifically about Peter Quill’s mysterious father figure. They’ve also confirmed persistent rumors that Kurt Russell has joined the cast, although not explicitly in the role of Quill’s dad.
Most of the cast and crew, including director James Gun, stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are all back on board, filming in Atlanta. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 is scheduled to go live May 5th 2017.
