All That’s Gaming: Your Epic Buyer’s Guide to What’s New This Week!
We all have probably developed a love/hate relationship with survival horror games–they scare the crap out of us, but that’s why the relationship is so unique. Well, Red Barrels’ latest survival horror project, Outlast, will do just that–scare the living sh*t out of you. Several masterminds who were once a part of games such as Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, Uncharted, and Prince of Persia came together to form Red Barrels, and so I have all but confidence put into this game. Outlast is a first-person survival game that takes place in an insane asylum. The story is centered around journalist, Miles Upshur, who receives an anonymous tip leading him to Mount Massive Asylum. Miles follows up on the tip, bringing himself to the hospital, and comes to discover the dead bodies of the hospital’s staff strewn all throughout the halls. As Miles continues to push his way through the building, he comes across a dying SWAT officer, who, in his last breath, warns Miles to leave the asylum immediately. As the inmates roam the building and grounds free, Miles tries to exit the building safely, but fails to do so when he is knocked unconscious by several of them claiming that they need Miles to witness the occult events that have been taking place in the asylum. When the inmates show Miles a video of officers being slaughtered by a mysterious force, Miles is forced to believe the supernatural lurk in the shadows of this hospital. Miles must work his way up through the asylum, and fight his way against the insane and supernatural.
Transitioning into something a little more enlightening, lets talk super heroes! Step into the plastic shoes of Emmett! This once-ordinary citizen has been mistakenly identified as an extraordinaire who is the only person who can save the planet. Narrated by the hilarious signature LEGO humor, Emmett joins an elite group of strangers to set out on a quest to save the world from an evil tyrant. Featuring characters from all different fandoms, including: Batman, Superman, Gandalf, and more, The LEGO Movie Videogame seems like a complete riot.
