Daisy Ridley On Possibly Playing Lara Croft

We recently learned that MGM and Warner Brothers are considering Daisy Ridley to play the iconic duel wielding adventurer Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider movie. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Empire Awards, Ridley confirmed that such wish-fulfilling talks have actually been taking place.

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” she said in regards to her landing the role. Ridley did admit that at this point the new Tomb Raider movie doesn’t have a script. She also said that her commitment to the Star Wars sequel trilogy would not prevent her from working on a Tomb Raider movie, “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar.”

Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars costar John Boyega is already rooting for her to play Lara Croft. “I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” he told THR. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”
