“Ghostbusters 3″ to Start Filming in Summer 2013?
Dan Ackroyd has been fighting to get “Ghostbusters 3″ made for years, and for awhile the unmade sequel was presumed dead. Now, Deadline is reporting that Ivan Reitman is ready “to finally get the long-gestating ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot in front of the cameras next summer for Sony Pictures.” This isn’t the first time that a production date was announced for the film, but it is the most promising attempt so far.
Etan Cohen is working on the script, which will potentially see the old gang passing the torch to a younger crew of ghost catchers. Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson will reprise their roles. Bill Murray has stated that he will not be returning as Dr. Peter Venkman. Ackroyd was quoted as saying,”We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.”
If all goes as planned, the production will kick off in summer 2013 with Ivan Reitman in the director’s chair. The “Ghostbusters” 30th anniversary is in 2014, so the release of “Ghostbusters 3″ would likely coincide with that celebration.
Assuming the “Ghostbusters” sequel moves forward, how do you feel about a younger crew and no Bill Murray? Let us know in the comments below.
