Vin Diesel Teases Iron Giant Sequel
YES, PLEASE!
Brad Bird’s now classic 1999 animated feature The Iron Giant has always had a fond place in my heart. It was a smart, surprisingly poignant, funny and deeply touching film about a New England little boy in 1950s Space-age McCarthy America; he makes an unexpected friend out of a giant alien robot that crashes to Earth and tries to survive the hostility and suspicion of the earthlings.
Vin Diesel, of course, voiced the titular Iron Giant. And he recently took to his Facebook page to announce that Warner Brothers is releasing a Blu-ray Iron Giant Signature Edition as well as the remastered film in theaters.

Diesel also has this tantalizing post script; “Don’t be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel.”
Vin! The vagueness is ripping me apart! Does that mean there is a sequel planned? Do you know something we don’t? There’s absolutely narrative potential for a sequel. The end of the original showed us the Iron Giant reassembling itself and maybe we could find out more about the world it came from!
Keep your fingers crossed. And keep your eyes peeled for the Iron Giant Signature Edition in theaters for a limited time.
