Tim Burton continues his penchant for fantastical escapism with a cinematic adaptation of Ransom Rigg’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

In the trailer, Asa Butterfield is led by a girl to a hidden world of children with peculiar abilities or traits. They all live together in a spacious country house under the tutelage and protection of Eva Green’s Miss Peregrine. It turns out that Butterfield is more at home with these peculiar children than he realizes and eventually he must rise to the mantle of protector for these unusual souls.

So X-Men meets Alice in Wonderland? Sounds right up Tim Burton’s alley. The powers and traits of the children aren’t necessarily of superpower cool-factor or utility. Bizarreness is definitely the bigger motif. Just look at the little girl with the shark maw in the back of her head.

Asa Butterfield and Eva Green aren’t the only big names attached to the movie. Samuel L. Jackson, Allison Janney and Judi Dench are also starring, although Jackson is the only one to make an appearance in this trailer just yet.

We’ll get to meet the residents of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children this September. Check out the trailer below!
