The live action otherworldly adventure from Incredibles director Brad Bird has been pretty much a mystery until now. With the release of the first true feature trailer for Tomorrowland, we now have a glimpse of what the world is like and what the central conflict will be.
We get more shots of the Tomorrowland pin transitioning our hero Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) from the mundane world of corrections offices and orange washed street lights to a field of wheat blazing with sun light. We see Casey introduce herself to George Clooney’s Frank Walker and his technologically decked out but shabby hideaway.
We also meet Hugh Laurie’s David Nix. It’s hard to tell if the trailer makes him out to be an antagonist but he and Walker seem to have a history. Similarly, the trailer is also vague about how exactly Tomorrowland may be in trouble or who is trying to hunt down Casey.
The setting does look wonderfully futuristic and interesting. I’m very curious to see what the film has to say about the future of humanity and the application of imagination and cooperation.
