“Girls” star Adam Driver is in negotiations for a juicy role in “Star Wars: Episode VII.” According to Variety, the role would be that of the film’s lead villain – said to be similar to Darth Vader – and Driver is reportedly J.J. Abrams’ top choice to play this character. Both Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving are being eyed for an unmentioned part at this point in time, so we guess it could be for Driver’s role if he decides to turn away.
“Star Wars: Episode 7” to Begin Filming In May
Driver is a former Marine and Julliard graduate who has starred in other roles in Spielberg’s “Lincoln” and Noah Baumbach’s “Frances Ha.” He is currently a series regular on HBO’s “Girls” as Hannah Horvath’s devoted boyfriend, Adam.
J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan have penned the “Episode VII” script together, and it is rumored to be setting its sights on a new generation of heroes alongside original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. “Star Wars: Episode VII” will be in theaters on December 18, 2015.
