Is Sony Hinting at Western Release for PS Vita Slim?

When Sony launched the PS Vita Slim in Japan this past October, many in the gaming world wondered if and when we would see a Western release. That time may be soon upon us, as Sony has sent out multiple invitations to publications hinting to a worldwide launch. “Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest,” the invite read.

If this turns out to be for the PS Vita Slim, it couldn’t come at a better time. While the PlayStation is enjoying the most successful launch for the PlayStation brand, the PS Vita still hasn’t found the widespread audience that Sony is hoping to catch with it. Even with the added functionality of remote play with PS4 and sharp graphics, the Vita could use a boost in the West if it hopes to remain above water. If the Slim model does make its way to the US, the lower price point and color variation might just give it the resurgence it needs, much like the successful comeback of the 3DS. The briefing regarding the matter will occur next Thursday morning.
