Whedon On Board for ‘The Avengers 2′
During last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel officially announced The Avengers 2, along with several other Marvel Studios films as part of “Phase Two” of the franchise. Phase Two is the official name for the series of Marvel films between The Avengers and The Avengers 2.
This week, it was confirmed that Joss Whedon will be back to write and direct the Avengers sequel, as part of an exclusive three-year development deal with Disney. This deal also has Whedon helping Marvel and ABC develop a new TV series that takes place within ”The Avengers” universe.
Here are the “Phase Two” release dates we know of so far:
IRON MAN 3: May 3rd, 2013
THOR: THE DARK WORLD: November 8th, 2013
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER: April 4th, 2014
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: August 1st, 2014
(And maybe ANT MAN sometime in 2014)
Aside from Whedon’s role as writer/director, and the summer 2015 release date, there isn’t a whole lot more that we know at this point. You can bet that we’ll keep you posted on each piece of juicy info that emerges over the next several months.
