David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson could be in on another project that is X-Files related. According to a UK source, Fox is close “to giving the official green-light” on an X-Files reboot, with the stars reprising their original roles. If the series gets off the ground, production could begin as early as May.

TVWise says that there is a new season coming and it will likely have less than ten episodes. In a way, this is good because it will give it a chance to see if the fans like it enough. Since it is pilot season, they could get double thumbs up for more episodes down the road. Who knows? For now though the short season is heavily based upon scheduling conflicts for both Anderson and Duchovny. Anderson is working on The Fall while Duchovny is starring in a new TV series, Aquarius. Series creator Chris Carter is set to return and offers have also been sent out to Mitch Pileggi as well as others.

Fox could be saying that this is the final season and work something such as 24 and its final run last year. We do have to stress that “talks with sister studio 20th Century Fox Television are still on-going.”
