Power Girl is known in the DC Comics universe for living up to her name. Power Girl is Superman's cousin and, in some cases, is the dimensional counterpart of Super Girl. They are alike in many ways which includes their powers of super strength, heat vison, and flight, but Power Girl is more aggressive and mature than Super Girl. Arguably, she's like Super Girl's older sister.
DC Comics' Power Girl is "punch first, ask questions later" kind of woman. And that disposition suits her just fine as a member of the Justice Society of America. Her real name is Kara Zor-L, but she's also known as Karen Starr, the CEO of Starrware Industries. She was originally created to be the Earth 2 counterpart to Supergirl, and her origin story is basically in keeping with Supergirl's in that she is a cousin to Superman and a native of the planet Krypton. Power Girl's parents, Allura and Zor-L, sent her to Earth as an infant at same time as her cousin, Kal-L, but her ship took much longer to reach its destination. Kara grew to adulthood in suspended animation during the trip and she arrived on Earth at about twenty years of age. She quickly adopted a unique costume and superhero identity to distinguish herself from Superman.
DC Comics has a large roster of characters that evoke a sense of justice. Their heroic characters are brave, chivalrous, and self-sacrificing, making them the epitome of the word "superhero." One of the characters that is certainly at the top of the list in regards to heroism is Power Girl, the beautiful blonde-haired, powerful woman who emits an aura of bravery without even trying. Cosplayer Jaycee Cosplay does the same in her cosplay which is incredibly spot-on and accurate to the DC Comics character that many of us have looked up to over the years.
As an incredibly popular DC Comics character, Power Girl is one superhero that you can see everywhere you turn when attending a convention. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Power Girl was easily one of the most cosplayed characters at the con. Instilling an aura of justice, bravery, and of course, power, Power Girl is one hero that every woman would be eager to embody; however, her scant attire can make her costume a bit tricky to pull off.
Known by admirers as ‘The Man of Steel’, the powerful alien Kal-El (better known by his hero alias, Superman) is a man made of pure might with strength and honor guiding him as he battles evil forces. And as always, for every great man there is an equally as impressive woman and in Superman’s case that would have to be female Kryptonian refugee, Kara Zor-L aka Power Girl. Like her male counterpart, Power Girl possesses incredible strength, super human speed, x-ray and heat vision, as well as the ability of flight. In a flashy and revealing red, white and blue ensemble, Power Girl always stands out as she fights alongside the best DC Comics heroes, and defeats the worst of foes with her aggressive fighting style.
