Are you looking for all that military shooter goodness but with only half the calories? Well, this one still probably has all the calories, but it’s like $20, so, that’s probably better. Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear is set to release on January 29th for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 and promises a good time for gamers on a budget. It can be played as a single player game, or as a four player co-op game. The co-op mode can be played on one machine, again, a boon for those not looking to drop huge amounts of cash. That means you and three friends can all play from one couch, or loveseat if you don’t mind things getting weird.
Some people are sure to gripe about another on-rails shooter so soon after the release of Call of Duty Blacks Ops 2 but that’s the market. All jokes aside, the secret to Heavy Fire: Afghanistan looks solid, despite just being announced a week before release. The plot involves soldiers chasing after a captured spy who holds valuable intelligence pertaining to an Iranian nuclear weapons facility. Someone needs to get in there and stop that sort of thing from being allowed. Grab your friends, some beers and be ready to hoot and holler at the screen, all for 20 bucks.
