Namco-Bandai

For some time now, Namco Bandai has been referred to as Bandai Namco in Japan, the words appearing to only swap in other countries. One might find this odd, considering that it takes away a sense of uniformity. While it seemed an issue that hadn’t bothered Namco Bandai at all – or Banda Namco in Japan, the tables have turned. Announced during a board meeting yesterday, Namco Bandai stated that they would be swapping their name, and sticking with Bandai Namco instead. The change won’t be immediate, however, as it goes live on April 1st of this year. The name change’s date alone might cause one to raise a brow, considering this is usually the day for jokes, but for now it seems players should just roll with it.

When the change rolls around, thirty one different subsidiaries will be asked to comply with the name swap. Essentially, instead of referring to the company as Namco Bandai Games America Inc., it will instead be Bandai Namco Games America Inc. The transition might not be smooth – as some might take a while to get used to it, but players might want to start wrapping their heads around it now.
