Call of Duty: Black Ops III Gets A New Multiplayer Only Starter Pack

If you want to play the multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Black Ops III, but aren’t willing to put down $59.99 on Steam for the rest of it, developer Treyarch has good news for. The developer has announced that a new Starter Pack version of the game is coming for those who prefer the multiplayer of Call of Duty, albeit a bit limited.

Starting today and lasting until February 29th, players will be able to download the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Multiplayer Starter Pack for $15 and will give everyone who buys it access to Public Ranked Multiplayer matches as well as a number of features including the Weapon Paint Shop, Gunsmith, Arena, Freerun, Theater, and the Black Market. Unfortunately, there are also a few key features that aren’t part of the Starter Pack, as revealed on the official Steam page. These missing features include:

  • Zombies game mode
  • Campaign game mode
  • Ability to play in Multiplayer custom games
  • Ability to Prestige (your level will be capped at 55 in the Starter Pack)
  • Access to mod tools or modded content (once released)
  • Access to unranked server browser (once released)
  • Ability to Fresh Start your profile
  • The ability to access Dead Ops Arcade II and Nightmares mode

Fortunately, if you like what you played in the Starter Pack and want the rest of it, you’ll be able to upgrade from the Starter Pack to the full game at a reduced price. Currently, the Starter Pack is only available for the PC, with no word on whether or not it’s coming to consoles.
