Pokemon Go Might Connect With Pokemon Sun & Moon In The Future

Pokemon Go may connect in some way to the upcoming Pokemon Sun & Moon, according to long time series developer Junichi Masuda. Just don’t expect it to happen anytime soon.

“We’re still thinking about the best way to establish this kind of connectivity and what the best timing will be,” Masuda said in a recent interview with Gamespot. “First, we just want people to enjoy Sun and Moon after they come out. Then we’ll keep working on ideas to best accomplish that.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that a spinoff game was connected to the originals in some way. Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 released for the N64 let you transfer Pokemon from your Game Boy games into those games, while winning certain in-game events would reward you special Pokemon that you could use in the main game. There’s also Pokemon Ranger, which awarded you the legendary Pokemon Manaphy for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. And of course, let’s not forget getting Pokemon during real world events and at retailers like GameStop, though whether Pokemon Go will function in that same way remains to be seen.

In any case, be sure to check out Pokemon Sun and Moon when it releases on November 18th exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, with a special demo out now. Pokemon Go is available now for iOS and Android devices.
