Get a Look at the New “Evil Dead” Necronomicon

Last week, the bloody first trailer for the “Evil Dead” remake went online, in all of its arm-sawing, tree-raping glory. Now we are getting a closer look at the evil book that is responsible for all of this carnage, the Necronomicon. The images below were posted on the “Evil Dead” Facebook page, along with the phrase, “Necronomicon Ex Mortis: Don’t Say It. Don’t Write It. Don’t Hear It. Don’t Share It.” So, of course, we decided to share it.

If you are an “Evil Dead” fan, you already know the story of the Necronomicon: A professor finds the ancient book and takes it to his cabin, where he successfully translates it, and is eventually killed. Later, the book is found in the cellar by a group of teenagers (led by Ash in the original and Mia in the remake). They recite passages from the book, and all hell breaks loose. The book has been through a few changes over the years. It was originally known as Naturom Demonto, and later as Necronomicon Ex Mortis. It is bound in human skin and written in blood, which makes it a charming addition to any cabin cellar.

“Evil Dead” 2013 is directed by Fede Alvarez, and produced by Raimi, Rob Tapert and the much-idolized Bruce Campbell, who played Ash in all three movies. The gruesome remake stars Jane Levy, Lou Taylor Pucci, Shiloh Fernandez, Elizabeth Blackmore, and Jessica Lucas.

“Evil Dead” hits theaters on April 12, 2013. Check out the images below, or watch the red band trailer here.
