Hidetaka Miyazaki is the father of the Dark Souls series, which includes Demon Souls as well as Bloodborne. With Dark Souls III on the horizon, gaming magazine Game Informer sat down with the game developer to talk about not only the new project at hand, but also the future of the Dark Souls franchise. Starting off, fans can expect a number of great features to make their return, as well as new ones that have evolved from the previous games. Starting off, Miyazaki stated that while, “I’m not sure if the same sort of item will be implemented, but there will be a method for players to re-assign souls.” Miyazaki went on to detail that weapon durability has been increased, hopefully striking a balance between Dark Souls II where they broke too easily, but also not as high as Dark Souls, where they hardly broke at all.

Miyazaki went on to say that hidden walls will also be making a return, but will only be triggered when struck, stating, “This is due to my thinking behind this type of feature. I like to have coincidences happen during battles, or accidental reveals due to swinging weapons around or randomly shooting arrows. I want to implement this sort of surprise discovery in a natural way when playing the game.”

Miyazaki would go on to touch on a number of other topics, check out the article *here. Dark Souls III is set for release in early 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
