Halo 2 Anniversary Edition was revealed at E3 as part of the Master Chief Collection, coming to Xbox One later this year. The collection that includes the four games that star the Chief himself was said to be running at the highest quality for players, and all the maps being re-mastered for the first two games. Though today it was revealed that Halo 2 Anniversary Edition might not run at the expected 1080p.
Responding to a NeoGAF post, 343 Industries franchise director Frank O’Connor explained there’s a chance that the Halo 2 Anniversary’s campaign “could run at a different resolution to accommodate the second frame rate buffer.” He added, “The intent is to overcome that hurdle.”
Having said that, all multiplayer games within The Master Chief Collection will run in 1080p at 60 frames per second, including Halo 2 Anniversary. “We’ll keep showing progress throughout the year using a process we call ‘game development.” The Master Chief Collection is due out November 11.
