Capcom Game Director Hideki Itsuno took to the PlayStation Blog today to talk about the upcoming HD remaster known as Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, a return to form for the classic slasher platformer scheduled for release this summer on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the blog post, Itsuno details a new trailer that debut, showing off the enhanced graphics and presentation as well as adding in three new playable characters joining Dante and Nero. Vergil, Lady, and Trish will all find their way to the fourth installment of Devil May Cry, with the DMC3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition version of Vergil being used mixed in with elements of his iteration in DmC. Vergil will also have a new mechanic known as “Concentration,” where his power is boosted the more the player is able to perform flawless attacks in a row.

As for Lady and Trish, while Trish will take to battle with a single sword, Lady changes up the combat approach, using a focus on firearms to deliver the pain from a distance, an approach rarely explored in the Devil May Cry series. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will also include a new “Legendary Dark Knight Mode”, which will challenge the player to take down a tremendous number of enemies, requiring them to adapt and evolve their fighting style in order to make it through. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition is expected to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this summer. Check out the new trailer below.
