Arnold Schwarzenegger to Return as Conan the Barbarian in 2014

Arnold Conan 2014

Arnold Schwarzenegger is dusting off his sword and loin cloth!

Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as the mythic warrior king, Conan the Barbarian, in the upcoming film The Legend of Conan. The plot is still fuzzy, but the story would pick up where the original Conan the Barbarian left off, ignoring both the 1984 sequel and the 2011 reboot which starred Jason Momoa. Conan was the breakthrough role that launched Schwarzenegger to superstardom in the early 1980s.

Producer Fredrik Malmberg told Deadline: “The original ended with Arnold on the throne as a seasoned warrior, and this is the take of the film we will make.” He explains, “It’s that Nordic Viking mythic guy who has played the role of king, warrior, soldier and mercenary, and who has bedded more women than anyone, nearing the last cycle of his life. He knows he’ll be going to Valhalla, and wants to go out with a good battle.”

The 65 year-old former Governornator is planning a series of comeback acting roles. While in Europe to promote his new autobiography “Total Recall”, he told the French MovieMad website, ”We’ve already had discussion about this, because it’s a project that is particularly dear to me. I must first shoot ‘Ten’ with David Ayer, but then we’re going to focus on ‘Conan’. It remains to be seen who will direct and if John Milius will write the script.”
